A claim from Russia's defense ministry, said its attack were because of Ukrainian strikes on their energy facilities. While Ukraine has targeted a few Russian oil facilities lately, Russia has brought down Ukrainian power plants starting from the beginning of winter in 2022.

The most recent Russian mission focusing on Ukraine's energy network started in March. The attacks have constrained experts in Ukraine to impose rolling blackouts in a few districts across the country.

According to Ukraine's biggest energy supplier, DTEK, no less than three thermal power-plants were harmed in Wednesday's assault, the fifth on the organization's facilities in seven weeks.

The energy supplier said its team were present and attempting to reestablish power, despite the fact that 80% of its producing limit had previously been harmed.

"The energy these power stations produce permits a huge number of Ukrainians to live with respect," said CEO Maxim Timchenko. "We won't quit attempting to reestablish power at our facilities."

The strikes focused on key energy and transport sites in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv, Ukrainian authorities said, adding that Soviet-era powerplants and gas storerooms were among the objectives.

"The enemies has not deserted plans to deny Ukrainians of light," said Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko

In spite of the harm, Ukraine's armed forces said it intercepted many rockets and 20 of 21 Iranian-made Shahed drones aimed towards the country.

Russia's defence ministry says it used high-precision Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.

Specialists say the genuine effect of the Russian assaults may not be felt until yearly energy utilization tops in the colder time of year.

Ukrainian forces targeted an oil stockpiling terminal close to the Russian-occuoied city of Luhansk in eastern Ukraine on Tuesday night. Russian-appointed authorities in the space said five specialists were harmed.
